GDPR & Privacy Policy
DistilledNews is built to respect your privacy from the ground up. We do not set cookies, pixels, or any tracking technology while you browse the website.
Not even your first name. The only personal data we collect is your email address, and we collect it only when you subscribe to the newsletter or a paid plan.
What we collect
- Email address supplied voluntarily via the subscription form.
Website navigation
- To access paywalled content, subscribers browse using an anonymous token that is part of the URL — not a cookie, not storage in any way, absolutely ephemeral. The token expires automatically.
- All other visitors browse anonymously — no tracking, no cookies, no identifiers.
Newsletters open tracking
- Like most publishers, we keep an eye on newsletter stats. We measure open rates with an anonymised, transparent pixel.
How we use your data
- To deliver the free or paid newsletter you subscribed.
- To communicate essential service notices (for example, changes to delivery or security updates).
What we never do
- We do not profile you or track behaviour across the web.
- We do not share, sell, or rent your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising or retargeting.
Data storage & retention
Email addresses are stored securely with reputable providers located in the EU or in jurisdictions with adequate GDPR safeguards. We keep your email only while you remain subscribed or until you ask us to delete it.
Your rights
- You can unsubscribe instantly from any email footer.
- You can request access, correction, portability, or deletion by emailing privacy@distillednews.eu.
